About Us

Growing up in sunny California my whole life and living in San Diego for 13 years, the coast has always been part of my life.  Living in a town famous for great surf and sand, it was only natural that when my husband Dennis and I were given the opportunity to move to the Caribbean, it was an easy decision.  Once we were settled in St. Thomas and enjoying our new home with our two dogs (Buddy and Roxy), We decided to honor the Caribbean tradition of giving our home a name.  After deciding on “Perry’s Island Dream,” the next job was to create a sign to hang on our front entrance.  Using elements from the beach (sea glass, sand and shells), I created a sign. After numerous visitors to our home  commented that they too wanted a sign for their home, the idea of Barefoot Decor (formerly known as Sea Sand Designs) was formed. Now living the last year in Juipter, I am excited to bring that same Caribbean feeling to Florida.

I was inspired to to start a business to bring my love of the ocean to anyone, regardless of where they live. Everyone dreams of having a pina Colada on a Caribbean beach or a peaceful vacation away from home so my art is just a nice way to be reminded of that and fun for me to make. After a few months of selling to local stores, word spread about my company and now 6 years later, you can find my displays in 24 locations throughout the islands and now the United States.

My designs are funky, whimsical and designed to add humor and style to your home.  Most of all, they will remind you of the Caribbean where ever you live.
