Well, with the boat out of commission with some other issue now, we opted to take the car ferry over to Saint John to make a delivery and to hang out at the beach. I actually like having the car filled with our beach towels, ice chest with yummy snacks and chairs so we don't have to take a taxi to the beach. We can leave the beach whenever we want and drive around a different island. I had 3 big boxes so taking the people ferry vs. car ferry is a big pain with all that stuff.

We happened to pick the "slow boat to china" boat on the way over (not on the way back however) which took us 1/2 hour to go what usually takes us 12 minutes in our boat but we really didn't mind and it wasn't full so we just relaxed and enjoyed the ride in our car on a boat (still a weird feeling). We made the delivery right away and then were invited to visit my clients villa they are building in Chocolate Hole (Kenny Chesney' has a house somewhere in Chocolate hole, plus a few other's elsewhere on STJ). We saw their hole that has been dug for their pool and the plans for the rest of the house which was cool. They bought the land 8 years ago and it's such a nice neighborhood to be building in. Their neighbor's place has a 7.1 million dollar house on it (enough said).

After that little jaunt, we were hot and needed to get to the water soon to cool off. We were going to hike but now we were too hot and hungry so we drove by trunk bay to Maho and had our lunch early and cooled down in the water (though it was warm). We shared our sandwich with this funny crab that ate his bread right in front of us with his little lobster claw hands and then saved the rest for a snack later in his house. He did need to dig a bit more to get it down in the hole which was also fun to observe. They are amazing little creatures. We also watched the pelicans dive for fish all morning. (my favorite thing to do).

We drove around the island after lunch but most shops and restaurants are closed for the low season and will open back up in late October. I was commenting on how tourist that do come in the cheaper lower season do miss out on some fun stuff while these places are closed but hey, that is why it's cheaper here I suppose (and the heat and storm season too.).

Our car ferry home was not crowded at all and much faster. We were next to a truck that had small competition speed boats (size of a wagon) that they were fixing up to race in St. Thomas so that gave us something to learn about while we rode back.

I had been up since 4am so a much needed nap was due so when we got home I zonked out on the couch for about an hour. Naps are so good for you.

It was a good day in St. John and I am so thankful that I live in such a pretty place.
