Since the boat has one more day of mechanical work till we take it out we had our morning free to walk at Megan's Bay this morning. We like to get there before 6am so by the time we are done the sun is just coming up and we aren't walking directly into it. For some reason there were tons of mongoose running around. It tried to take pictures of them but by the time I got my camera ready they were gone or too far away. Their legs are so short but their body is so long.

We sat for a while and looked out at the calm water, had some ice water but then hunger set in and we needed to go get breakfast somewhere. Just yesterday I was talking to someone who had heard that Bumba's downtown on the waterfront served a good breakfast so we decided to go there. Since there aren't any ships in today we got parking close to the restaurant. I felt kinda grungy since I was in my workout clothes but then decided it was ok anyway since no one would be there yet (like tourists or locals this early). It's funny how we always look like tourist and people are shocked that we live here when we tell them.

Bumba's is a cute place. It's kinda diner-ish with a caribbean flair. You order at the counter and there are no menus just a big sandwich board with breakfast and lunch items on it. We met the owner, Roland, who has been here 20 years now from Boston AND it was his 61st b-day as well today. He was excited to tell us that his 5 year old granddaughter was going to be cooking him dinner tonight to celebrate,.Roland is the owner and cook and one of his regular patrons explained to me "where else on the island can you see your food being cooked to order in front of you?". Good point. It seemed like he had a ton of regular that go there.

I ordered oatmeal pancakes that came with bacon and Dennis got an omlete with the works plus ate some of my bacon. The pancakes were good but  extra thick and I couldn't eat them all (though I tried) and I am already hungry again at 11am so I guess I should of ate more. I didn't want to be disrespectful and leave too much on my plate ya know. I was thankful to have a good cup of coffee since we ran out at the house yesterday too.

Overall, Bumba's is a nice place to have a good hometown kind of breakfast or lunch and sit outside overlooking the harbor. Next time I go, I want to get the lox and bagel combo or a fruit smoothie. Their lunch of grilled fish wrap also looked good. Everything seemed to be prices at $8.50 or $9.50 for whatever you ordered at Bumpa's.  You also eat on paper plates and have plastic (flimsy though) silverware and throw away your own garbage (bus your own table in other words). This keeps his cost down he said and I didn't really mind it but maybe next time I will bring my own silverware! ha!

I always enjoy meeting new people and eating somewhere new. We will go back there to see Roland again.
