I have many jars and bowls filled with found sea glass as I love to collect, find and talk about the pieces I have plus where I found them. I have 6 pieces of blue sea glass in various shade that adorn my kitchen window so I can see them everyday and I know just where each piece was found too. Blue is rare to find, especially here in St. Thomas. We mostly find green and browns (very common) so when you stumble across a blue piece you are very excited to find more. The next colors that are fairly hard to find are: honey, amber, citron and even harder yet: cobalt, aqua, purple, teal, turquoise, black and pink. The rarest sea glass to find is: red, orange and yellow.

These pieces of sea glass pictured are turquoise, cobalt (my favorite and the brightest) and pale sea green. They each have their own grade (if I was going to make jewelery out of them). Craft grade A would be the bigger sky blue piece found on Hull Bay, in St. Thomas. The rounded Cobalt piece in the front is more jewlery grade A since it is evenly and thoroughly frosted with very rounded corners and the other cobalt pieces are more craft grade B (more jagged edges and sharp sides). All of these pieces were found at Lindburg Bay near the airport on St. Thomas. The other pale sea green was found in the British Virgin Islands on a beach near Harris' place that has fantastic shore wash. There are lots of cool shells to be found there too. if you can't find sea glass shells are fun to collect too. You just don't ever know what you will find when you are at the beach!
