Sean Kinston was here in concert this week and it was cool to be able to go see him at Yacht Haven Grande. One of our favorite local bands, Cool Sessions out of Saint John (latin, french, caribbean type music), opened for him too which was a treat. Before Sean got to us, he was playing the day before in Tortola so they got a nice show too (rainy, but nice).

Sean Kingston's music is rap, reggae, pop, and doo-wop all wrapped up in one style and he writes or co-writes all of his own songs too. He has a DJ that comes with him to mix his songs on stage while he sings which I really like. He is very popular here on the radio in Saint Thomas and all over the Caribbean as well as the states as is Cool Sessions. Sean was born in Jamaica so I wasn't suprised to see a few jamaican flags flying in the crowd the night of the concert. The crowd was a mix of yound kids, teenagers, mom and dad's, middle aged (like me), just about every age. So many types of people like his music.

We had a heavy day of rain so it seemed like the concert might get some downpours and mother nature didn't dissapoint us. We had light showers most of the night so I was glad I ended up wearing jeans and sneakers vs. trying to be extra cute because I came home to muddy pants and shoes from dancing in the muddy grass. It didn't matter because you just can't not dance while you are listening to Cool Sessions or his music (plus I was thinking it was extra cardio for the day too).

Even though it was a late night, it was so much fun and it was the talk of the island then next day. Thanks Sean for the visit and great concert (and Clovis of Fat Turtle resturant who thought of bringing him here too)!
