Giving back to the community in which you live is very important to me so when my friends again this year asked me to donate some auction items to raise money for the youth group at the St. Thomas Reformed Church, I gladly said yes. This will be my 3rd year donating fun local signs for event goers to bid on. I try to pick funny saying that apply to people that live here like  "Office" "Iguana Crossing", "No Vacancy", or "Paradise" plus of course, religious crosses made out of seaglass and shells which are pretty too.

Every year a group of teenagers volunteer to go to the Dominican Republic to assist in building housing for folks in need and the event that is taking place tonight at Blackbeards Castle will be hopefully raising a lot of money to help out on the trip. It's a week long trip with much work and very little play for the kids. It's a great program that is put on and sponsored by the church.

The St. Thomas Reformed church was established in 1660 by the first organized group of European settlers to the island and is one of the oldest congregations in the Caribbean! It will be celebrating 350 years on St. Thomas if you can believe that. I know a ton of people that attend that church and in fact I will be downtown today walking right by it. It's a beautiful church and you feel like you are a part of history just stepping inside.
